Delegate Passes
There are now only three days left to purchase a discounted Delegate Pass. With a Delegate pass you can access all areas at the festival, including the Digital Viewing Library showcasing all 1800 films submitted, access the Delegate areas, as well as attend Brief Exchange - a new series of Delegate only industry symposiums. Fantasy Festival
With our new Festival Genius schedule, you can create, download and print your own personal calendar of activities- you can even store it on your iPhone via the Festival Genius App! Over the next week, the Encounters team will be blogging their Fantasy Festival experiences, too busy to attend many of the events themselves, they will be highlighting their favourite things to look out for this year at Encounters, and maybe help you to decide what you will do. The British Guide to Showing Off

Jes Benstock, who will be featuring in this year's Brief Encounters Jury, directs this flamboyant portrayal of the life and works of Andrew Logan and his Alternative Miss World. Kicking off in 1972 as an excuse for a party, The Alternative Miss World has become bigger than the event it parodies, Benstocks film is a wonderful insight into the man behind those camp costumes. Watershed is hosting a special preview of this and is asking everyone to get 'Frocked Up!' and pay tribute with your own outrageous clad. Read more.

We have a selection of fantastic special guests making an appearance this year, including; Director Bruce Robinson (Withnail & I, The Rum Diary) who will be joining us in a rare interview presented by Directors UK, to discuss his past and future success including his new feature film The Rum Diary. Infamous Animator John Kricfalusi (The Ren & Stimpy Show) will be taking part in Desert Island Flicks, to talk about his favourite and most influential animations. NFTS presents a Cinematography Masterclass with Brian Tufano (Trainspotting, Billy Elliot) and Stuart Harris (Wetherby)- a fantastic opportunity to hear these celebrated cinematographers revealing the secrets of the trade. With over 600 delegates attending from all over the world, the festival hosts a series of industry focused activities throughout the week, from panels to masterclasses, workshops and networking opportunities. There are limited spaces on a number of workshops, and we suggest you book your place now, to avoid disappointment.

This workshop offers an easy approach to Digital Cinematography through the Red One Camera. Join Terry Flaxton in this hands-on workshop as he takes you through the developing technology and how it is rapidly changing cinema. Read more.
3D Introductory - Sat 19 Nov, 10:00 & 14:00
The Digital Film Company is pleased to present two half-day hands-on introductory stereo 3D workshops. These intensive courses will instruct you on the details of filming in 3D, as well as the dos and don'ts, and what the relationship between cinema and 3D looks like for the future. Read more.
London Film Academy presents: Acting for Directors - Fri 18 Nov, 10:00 & 14:00
A workshop aimed at directors, on how to get the performances you are looking for. The LFA will take you through the steps, looking at how to work with actors in terms of their trained vocabulary, in order to come to a professional understanding to produce the results you want. Read more.

Brief Exchange: Delegates send us your questions!
Wed 16 - Fri 18 Nov
New to 2011, Encounters introduces Brief Exchange (Wed 16 – Fri 18 Nov), an opportunity for industry delegates to discuss the latest debates and future trends across subjects ranging from Future of Short Film (Wed 16 Nov), Future of Cinema (Thu 17 Nov) and Future Encounters (Fri 18 Nov). Each event will start with a networking breakfast, followed by a key note speech led by the chair of the day including Briony Hanson (British Council Film department), Paul Appleby (Director of VID) and Peter Carlton (Warp Films). (Available only for delegates on a first come first served basis.).
To ensure we are tackling the issues and subjects that you would like to address, we would like Delegates to submit their questions before the events, so start thinking and send them to: operations@encounters-festival.org.uk.

Animated Exeter Competitions
Deadline Soon
Closing dates are fast approaching for Animated Exeter's competitions and they are pleased to announce that they now have great cash prizes donated by Toon Boom Animation and Kudlian ICanAnimate. Screen Out Loud: eligible for any UK independent animator, over 18. The Young Ones, previously ExAnimation, there's now an award for 7 - 11 yr olds; 12 - 18 yr olds, either as individuals or schools & groups. Deadline: 1st December.
